Learning about accessibility

There are some simple steps you can take to make your website more accessible. These include:

  1. Adding alt text to all pictures.
  2. Making sure your font is large enough and has a high enough color contrast to be readable. Black on white or white on black is best.
  3. Using proper title, heading, and paragraph tags.
  4. Avoiding naked links and/or vague hyperlinks such as “click here for more.”
  5. Install an accessibility checker plugin! This will help double check your website for some issues you might have missed. I use the Equalize Digital Accessibility Checker.
